About Us

A practice built to restore what healthcare has lost: time, continuity, and trust

Why Anchor Health Exists

Modern healthcare often fragments care into brief, disconnected visits. Patients are rushed. Concerns are addressed in isolation. The person behind the symptoms is lost in the process.
Anchor Health was founded to do things differently. We are a clinician-led primary care practice providing secure telemedicine visits for children, teens, and adults in Maryland. We take the time to listen carefully, follow your health over months and years, and make decisions grounded in evidence and real-world context — not volume-driven checklists.
We believe that health is more than the absence of disease. It is a state of physical and emotional equilibrium. Many physical symptoms are deeply connected to our emotional lives, stress levels, hormonal changes, and lived experience. At Anchor Health, we honor those connections in every visit.

What Is Anchored Careᴵᴾ?

Anchored Careᴵᴾ is the guiding framework of this practice. It describes a model of relationship-based medicine that is grounded in evidence, respectful of complexity, and built around long-term healing rather than quick fixes.
In practice, this means: a smaller patient panel so that visits are never rushed. Longitudinal care that tracks your health across time, not in disconnected snapshots. Clinical decisions made collaboratively, with transparency and trust. And a commitment to treating the whole person — body, mind, hormones, and daily realities — in every encounter.
Anchored Care℠ᴵᴾ is not a tier of service or an add-on. It is how all care at Anchor Health is delivered, whether you receive care through insurance or optional membership.

About the Founder

Dr. Paule Joseph: A Clinician-Scientist with a Heart for Healing Body

Anchor Health was founded by Paule Joseph, PhD, MBA, CRNP, FAAN — a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, clinician-scientist, and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
Dr. Joseph earned her Master’s degree in Nursing from Pace University and her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Her career has focused on prevention, early detection, and patient-centered models of care that honor both science and the individual.
As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Joseph brings a dual perspective that is rare in primary care. She does not just apply research — she contributes to it. Her published work spans preventive care, health equity, and the intersection of biology, environment, and lived experience in shaping health outcomes.
Throughout her career, Dr. Joseph has witnessed how time constraints and fragmented systems limit what primary care can offer — for patients and clinicians alike. Anchor Health reflects her commitment to building a practice that supports careful listening, ethical decision-making, and sustainable care for individuals and families.

How Care Is Delivered

Care at Anchor Health is currently provided via secure telemedicine for patients located in Maryland at the time of their appointment, with in-person services planned. Visits are structured for meaningful conversation and shared decision-making. When labs, imaging, or specialist referral are needed, we coordinate with local partners and review all results during follow-up visits.
We offer two pathways: traditional insurance-based primary care (no membership required) and optional membership for patients who want enhanced access and structured follow-up. Both pathways receive the same clinical standards. See our Membership & Fees page for details.

Our Care Philosophy

Healing the Whole Person Body:

At Anchor Health, we believe that health is far more than the absence of disease—it is a state of physical and emotional equilibrium. We recognize that many of the physical illnesses we face are the body’s way of expressing what the heart and mind are carrying. Chronic stress, unprocessed emotions, and life’s transitions don't just affect our mood; they manifest in our metabolism, our hormones, and our vitality.
Anchor Health was created to restore the "human" to healthcare. In a system that often fragments care into brief, disconnected visits, we prioritize the time needed to listen to your full story. Our approach is rooted in the science of the mind-body connection, ensuring that we don't just treat symptoms, but honor the person behind them.

Care at Anchor Health is:

Evidence-based and clinically grounded
Designed for continuity over time
Respectful of complexity and life stage
Delivered with clear communication and follow-through
We believe primary care works best when patients are known — not rushed — and when care decisions are made collaboratively, with transparency and trust.

How Care Is Designed at Anchor Health

Anchored Careᴵᴾ is the guiding structure of this practice. It allows Anchor Health to maintain a smaller patient panel, provide unrushed visits, and follow health changes across months and years rather than through disconnected appointments.
Primary care at Anchor Health is intentionally designed around time, continuity, and clinical judgment. We care for a smaller panel of patients and structure telehealth visits to allow for thoughtful evaluation rather than rushed decision-making.
This allows us to focus on prevention, early identification of concerns, and longitudinal care that builds over time. Care is comprehensive and grounded in primary care, not specialty-driven or trend-based. We address health concerns in context, considering medical history, life stage, medications, stress, and daily realities.

Patients at Anchor Health can expect:

Visits that allow space for conversation and questions
Clear explanations and shared decision-making
Follow-up that reflects continuity, not episodic care
Care coordination when specialty input is needed
While Anchor Health offers optional membership for patients who want enhanced access and structured follow-up, membership is not required to receive care. All patients receive the same clinical standards. Care is currently provided via secure telemedicine for patients across Maryland.
